Branding Design
Piney Woods Gazette
Piney Woods Gazette is a magazine layout project designed to highlight the rich flora and fauna of East Texas. Every photograph featured was taken by me, and I handled all aspects of the design, from the cover to the masthead and layout. Using Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Lightroom, I crafted a visually compelling magazine that blends stunning imagery with thoughtful typography. This project sharpened my skills in layout design and visual storytelling, teaching me how to create engaging spreads that seamlessly integrate text and photography.
One of the biggest challenges was achieving the right balance between type and imagery, but through experimentation, I refined my approach to composition and design flow. The final magazine is a beautifully crafted piece that reflects my passion for publication design and the natural beauty of East Texas—an achievement I am incredibly proud of.

My design was selected to advertise the museum’s annual Halloween event, Family Fright Night. The creative brief called for something lighthearted and family-friendly, so I illustrated dinosaur skeletons holding trick-or-treat pails alongside bold event branding. I developed the artwork in Adobe Illustrator, and then collaborated with a team to create a durable tarp installation that could be reused for future events. This project allowed me to bring playful, seasonal imagery to a public space while ensuring the design remained engaging and effective year after year.
Opposites Poetry Colab
In this collaboration, my typography class partnered with 4th-grade poets in California to create an expressive book centered on the theme of opposites. Each student designed an illustration using words, which the young poets responded to with their original poetry—and vice versa. I created my typographic illustrations in Adobe Illustrator, ensuring the visuals complemented the poetic themes. After the collaboration, a classmate and I compiled and designed a printed book using Adobe InDesign, producing 70 copies to share with both SFA students and the participating California poets. This project was a rewarding exploration of creative storytelling through type and imagery.
